はじめに
初めまして。この記事ではSickkidsへの留学を検討している方に向けて、１期生としてプログラムに参加した私が留学した理由や現地で学んだことを中心に書いて行きたいと思います。留学を検討している方の参考になれば幸いです。また、留学プログラムの内容に関しては記事に書ききれないことがほとんどなので、もし興味がある方はご連絡ください。
世界トップレベルの環境で学べる
やはり留学を検討している人の一番の目的は海外の環境という部分が一番大きいのではないでしょうか。
この記事をご覧の方はご存知の方が多いと思いますがトロント大学はインスリンの発見でノーベル生理学賞を受賞したことで有名ですよね。そして高い研究力があるだけではなく大学には8万人を超える学生が在籍しており、世界大学ランキングでも常に上位にランクインしている大学でもあります。
トロント小児病院には60名の薬剤師が勤務していてトロント大学薬学部出身の先生が多くおられますが、レジデントとして学べる薬剤師は年間2名しかおらずかなり狭き門のようです。
また、世界中から研究者や留学生を受け入れており日々小児治療の向上に励んでいます。
このような環境で学ぶチャンスは社会人になってからでは中々ないと思いますし将来的に大学病院や研究者を目指している方はぜひ検討してみてはいかがでしょうか？
ロールモデルが見つかる
みなさんには薬剤師のロールモデルっていますか？ロールモデルは簡単に言えば「自分がお手本にしている人」のことです。

中山 卓也 なかやま たくや
1993年生まれ 薬学部6回生
新潟県佐渡市出身。2016年リオ五輪研修プロジェクトに参加し、リオ五輪現地会場付近の水質調査や環境測定を実施。日本の薬学生として初めてオリンピックにコアに関わる。2017年立命館大学トロント薬学研修プログラムに１期生として参加し、海外の薬剤師について学ぶ。2018年4月からは東京の大学病院で薬剤師として勤務開始予定。

Introduction
Hello. This article is for anyone considering studying at SickKids. As a member of the first cohort, I will write mainly about why I joined the program and what I learned there. I hope it will be useful to those thinking about it. Most of the content of the program cannot be covered in an article, so if you are interested, please get in touch.
Learning in a world-class environment
For most people considering study abroad, the biggest attraction is surely the overseas environment itself.
As many readers will know, the University of Toronto is famous for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for the discovery of insulin. Besides its research strength, it has more than 80,000 students and consistently ranks near the top of world university rankings.
SickKids employs 60 pharmacists, many of them graduates of the University of Toronto's Faculty of Pharmacy, but only two pharmacists a year can train there as residents — a very narrow gate.
It also welcomes researchers and international students from all over the world and works daily to improve paediatric care.
Chances to study in such an environment are rare once you are working, so if you are aiming for a university hospital or a research career, why not consider it?

Takuya NAKAYAMA
Born 1993; sixth-year pharmacy student.
From Sado, Niigata. In 2016 took part in the Rio Olympics training project, conducting water-quality surveys and environmental measurements near the Olympic venues — the first Japanese pharmacy student to be closely involved in the Olympics. In 2017 joined the first cohort of Ritsumeikan's Toronto Clinical Training Program to learn about pharmacists abroad. From April 2018, will work as a pharmacist at a university hospital in Tokyo.
