プログラム概要The Program
The Toronto Clinical Training Program 2020 was conducted online for one week starting February 8, 2021. Seven fifth year students participated in the program.
2021年2月8日から1週間、Toronto Clinical Training Programをオンラインで実施し、7名の5回生が参加しました。
トロント小児病院・トロント大学でのプログラムProgram at SickKids and Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy
At the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), we participated in seminars given by the hospital's pharmacists, pharmacist residents and a doctor. We also made a case presentation on the first day.
トロント小児病院（SickKids）では、病院の薬剤師、薬剤師レジデント、医師によるセミナーに参加しました。また、初日には立命館大学の学生による症例発表を実施しました。
We held an exchange meeting with about 25 students of the Paediatric Initiative of Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto. We also participated in a quiz competition on pediatric diseases and drug treatment using Kahoot!
トロント大学薬学部のPaediatric Initiativeの学生約25名との交流会を実施しました。互いの国・大学での薬学部の教育システム、実習、選択科目、キャリア、ボランティア活動など活発なコミュニケーションがとられていました。Kahoot!を使った小児の疾患や薬物治療に関するクイズ大会にも参加しました。

- 初めは全然英語を聞き取ることが出来ず、授業について行けるのか、コミュニケーションが取れるか不安でしたが、三日目くらいから耳も慣れてきて、徐々に話していることは分かるようになり、質問も出来るようになったAt first I could not catch the English at all and worried whether I could keep up or communicate, but from about the third day my ears adjusted, I gradually understood what was being said, and I was able to ask questions.
- 英語で講義を理解し、質問をし、答えを理解する。この一連の流れが英語でできたときの嬉しさは言葉で表せないくらいの喜びで、もっと英語を使いたい、話したいと思ったUnderstanding a lecture in English, asking a question, and understanding the answer — the joy of completing that whole cycle in English was beyond words, and it made me want to use and speak English more.
- 薬剤師の役割の違いを学んで、自分の将来の薬剤師の働き方について考えることができたLearning about the different role of pharmacists made me think about how I want to work as a pharmacist in the future.
- SickKidsという世界でもトップレベルの病院で、薬剤師の在り方などについてのお話を聞けたことで、将来薬剤師として働くときに大事にしたいことが見えたHearing about what it means to be a pharmacist at a world-leading hospital like SickKids showed me what I want to value when I work as a pharmacist.
立命館大学内でのプログラムPrograms at Ritsumeikan University
College of Pharmaceutical Science, Ritsumeikan University, held various programs online such as case discussions, review sessions, and cross-cultural exchange sessions.
立命館大学薬学部でも症例ディスカッション、レビューセッション、異文化交流セッションなど、さまざまなプログラムを実施しました。
症例ディスカッションCase Discussion
トロント小児病院で行った症例ディスカッションを再び行い、医学的な観点から復習しました。We revisited the case discussion held with SickKids and reviewed it from a medical point of view.
レビュー・セッションReview Session
トロント小児病院とのセミナー後、学んだことを説明しながら復習しました。After each seminar with SickKids, we reviewed what we had learned by explaining it to each other.

- 疾患について、薬について、分からないところをしっかり確認する機会となり、前日のセッションの理解を深めることができた。It was a chance to check the things I had not understood about the diseases and the drugs, and deepened my understanding of the previous day’s session.
- 朝のウォーミングアップ兼復習の時間として、リラックスして取り組むことができた。わからない単語や症状について詳しく教えてくださったので、とても勉強になった。It worked as a relaxed morning warm-up and review. The detailed explanations of words and symptoms I did not know were very helpful.
- 前日に学んだことをアウトプットでき、ナハラ先生からフィードバックももらえたため、講義の理解度が高まった。I could put what I had learned the day before into words and get feedback from Nahla, which improved my understanding of the lectures.
- クリアな英語で丁寧に薬のメカニズムや病態、症状について説明してくださり、内容としても英語力としても理解が深まったように感じた。The mechanisms of drugs, pathology and symptoms were explained carefully in clear English, and I felt my understanding deepened both in content and in English.

We had a cross-cultural exchange session with TAs Xinjia WANG from China andHaarish C. V. from India, and lecturer Philip Gurney from Canada. We talked with them about OTC drugs (over-the-counter drugs) that are well known in our home countries as well as the role of pharmacists. On the last day, we had an online party where we introduced various snacks from each country and interacted with each other.
TAのXinjia WANGさん（生命科学研究科、中国出身）、Haarish C. V. さん（理工学研究科、インド出身）、外部講師のPhilip Gurney先生と異文化交流セッションを行い、自国でよく知られているOTC薬（市販薬）の紹介や、薬剤師の役割について話しました。最終日はオンライン・パーティを開き、各国のさまざまなお菓子を紹介しながら交流しました。

- カナダだけではなく中国、インドの医療や薬剤師について知ることできとても面白い授業だった。It was a very interesting class — I learned about health care and pharmacists not only in Canada but also in China and India.
- 英語の話す力と聞く力、また国ごとの文化や薬剤師の役割など広く学ぶことができた。I improved my speaking and listening, and learned broadly about the culture and the role of pharmacists in each country.
- インドの英語、中国の英語、カナダの英語、それぞれ発音や話し方が違い、様々な英語を聞けたので大変勉強になった。日本の発音に恥ずかしさがなくなった。Indian English, Chinese English and Canadian English each have their own pronunciation and style; hearing so many kinds of English was a great lesson. I stopped feeling embarrassed about my Japanese accent.
- 各国のOTC薬紹介や病院についての話を聞いて、国ごとにこんなにも処方箋の使い方や薬剤師の役割が異なるんだと驚いた。Hearing about OTC medicines and hospitals in each country, I was surprised at how much the use of prescriptions and the role of pharmacists differ from country to country.
- 少人数でのセッションはとても話しやすく、一番英語を話すことのできる機会であった。アウトプットができ、とても楽しかった。The small-group sessions were easy to talk in and gave me the most chances to speak English. It was great fun to actually produce the language.
